The Fight for BSNL Workers' Rights
How representing contractual BSNL workers before the CGM raised the retirement age from 55 to 60 — and what it meant for hundreds of families.
In 2020, I represented casual contractual employees of BSNL before the Chief General Manager. These were workers who served for years without the basic security that regular employees enjoy.
Our demand was simple: fair treatment and security in service. For casual contractual workers, even retirement itself was a precarious moment — no clear age, no certainty.
After sustained representation, the retirement age for casual contractual employees was increased from 55 years to 60 years. Hundreds of workers and their families benefited.
This campaign taught me something I carry into everything I do: ordinary people rarely need favours — they need their rights recognised. When you stand with workers, you stand with families.
