About Rakesh Saha

Rakesh Saha was born in Baranagar, Kolkata, West Bengal, and grew up in a middle-class family where the values of hard work, integrity, and community service were taught from an early age. His father, Late Chandan Saha, and his family instilled in him a deep respect for honest work and for the people around him.

He completed his Madhyamik at Baranagar Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama High School (2002, First Division) and his Higher Secondary at Nimta High School (2004, First Division), before graduating with a B.Sc. from City College (Amherst Street), University of Calcutta, in 2007.

In 2002, at the age of sixteen, he began grassroots student politics — outreach, youth mobilisation, and organisational groundwork. Those early years shaped his conviction that change comes from standing with people, not above them.

After college, Rakesh built a career spanning 13+ years of middle and senior management across the Hospitality, Leisure, and BFSI sectors — including roles at Kotak Life Insurance, Bajaj Capital, India Infoline, Club Mahindra, and Sterling Holiday Resorts. In April 2019, he founded Go Holidays (a unit of Vistana Hospitality India Pvt Ltd) as CEO and Founder, growing the regional startup into a PAN-India hospitality network spanning five states.

His public life runs alongside his business. From 2015 to 2024 he managed the Baranagar Assembly constituency, and during the COVID-19 lockdowns he led a three-month relief campaign reaching approximately 400–500 people. In 2020, his representation to BSNL helped raise the retirement age for casual contractual workers from 55 to 60, benefiting hundreds of families. He was inducted into the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2024 under the leadership of Shri Suvendu Adhikari.
